Vivre Montréal

As part of being Asian, I’ve visited many places with my family as tourists who do touristy things, such as: Wake up early so we have a whole day ahead of us to cover all those places mentioned on the internet Endless amount of photo taking only to look the same in every photo Everything is on schedule with lack of spontaneity Due to #1, we always sleep early, because we’re just way too cool for night life No souvenirs! Cuz you know, they are overpriced and are Made In China anyways It’s good to be organized while on vacation, but rules take the fun out of it! I’ve been to Montreal several times, but this time, I headed over to experience something else 🙂 What didn’t disappoint was definitely the fact that I could make my own schedule – visited places include landmarks (I tried Uber!), bars, downtown streets, steakhouse, icecream store and arcade! There are also so many cool places to take pictures at! Having heard a lot about people always looking fancy dandy over here in Montreal, I certainly wanted to impress, not …

Hints of Gold – Part II

Hello beautifuls! As I mentioned in my previous post Hints of Gold Part I, this is the Part II of the look! I separated one shoot into two posts because of big difference in scenery and felt that both were deserving of their own post! This is taken at the park nearby my house, I’m grateful to have this piece of paradise close by. It has a small scaled beach, and is very popular during the summer time! Not to mention whenever it’s holidays, this becomes a scene for the dazzling fireworks.     I believe in fairy tales and all things magical 🙂 I remember a couple years back I came here to this very beach to watch shooting stars and make wishes. Although it was summer time but still freezing cold since it’s near the water and the stars were timed to appear around 1-2 a.m. I’d say it was a good use of time because I did something I’ve always wanted to do. I caught maybe 2-3 stars, and made wishes while not worrying about whether they’ll come true. …

Hints of Gold – Part I

Hi lovelies 🙂 a couple weekends ago, Scarborough had amazing weather, and of course I took advantage of it and stopped by the nearby beach to do this shoot. I attempted a simple look, and tried to dress it up with hints of gold everywhere 🙂 The cute little dress is from Armani Exchange, can’t remember the price, but knowing I’m all about deals, it’s likely under $40. Now let’s talk accessories – Necklace – with a simple dress like this, I wanted to wear a busier looking necklace, so I decided on this layered strands of gold chains with pearls. Earrings – toned it down, very minimal. Should always avoid bold earrings and necklace at once so the neckline area doesn’t look unnecessarily busy. The ones I’m wearing here are small dangly black & white triangles with gold rims. Sunglasses – To go with the awesome weather, I wore these orange shades, with gold buckles on the side. Pouch – this was a super good deal from H&M! $15! The beautiful coral blue immediately caught my eye! Not to mention there’s a gold chain embedded to the …

Denim Suspenders

Yep, back with another suspenders look 🙂 (And there will be more!) I’ll try not to bore you with all these suspenders but I just love love love them! 🙂 Suspenders are from Suzy Shier, at about $50. Suzy’s stuff is stylish but the quality isn’t the best – so I’d consider this a splurge actually. The tee is from Zara, it was only around $15! Loved the simple white Tee and loved the message on it – No one is perfect! I recently wrote about not letting perfect be the enemy of good, feel free to check it out here. Isn’t this the most adorable necklace? It’s an owl on a chain! If you aren’t a style blogger you may not appreciate how hard it is to find a nice setting to shoot! Luckily there is a beach nearby my place, surrounded by interesting buildings and parks. I was thrilled to have found this little corner 🙂 The shoes are also from Suzy’s! This was on sale, under $10! If you are into comfortable shoes, these are heavenly! …

Supergirl & Her Suspenders Pt.II

Hi everyone, just yesterday I posted Part I of this post, Supergirl & Her Suspenders. This is a continuation of the post and I’ll focus more on the accessories. I bought the hat at Armani Exchange, when I still worked there. Their stuff in general is quite similar to Guess – which means it’s hit or miss for me. I did get employee discount for the hat 🙂 It was originally about $50. I must say it was love at first sight with the shoes, isn’t it just amazing?! This was $45 dollars from an Asian boutique. It isn’t as heavy as it looks, in fact it is quite light and I love that I can run in them! 😛 The sell point was definitely the platform section – horizontal yellow stripes? sign me up! I also adored the shoelace, it is almost 2cm wide, and hence works PERFECTLY with the whole chunky look. By the end of the shoot I needed to relax a bit and enjoy the amazing weather! Let it all go 🙂 Yes this shirt is potentially a boyfriend Tee, it’s really …

Final Chapter – Memorable Little Hut

Hi beautifuls! This is going to be the last post from Cuba series…finally! These are taken at the beach near the resort. It’s funny, the first couple times I went there I never noticed this cute little hut! But good thing I paid attention to it during my last visit because I find it so artistic! And I thought below shots did it justice! The dress I’m wearing is from H&M! It was about $30 dollars. It was one of those purchases with zero hesitations. It is cotton material and is extremely comfortable to wear. It has a high point split just little below the thigh, which I thought made this seemingly conservative dress a little more interesting. What matches a casual summer maxi at the beach better than a straw hat? 🙂 Love, Val ❤

Counting Down

Counting down to my second last post of Cuba series! This was the last day I spent in Cayococo before heading back home. I decided to spend chunk of my last day around the resort and catch glimpse of beautiful corners that I might have missed. Here I am wearing yellow and white, isn’t it a great summery combination? 🙂 The skirt was $50 from Dynamite, not cheap, not too pricey, but it is well worth it because of the great quality and the comfort it brings me. I don’t travel often, so this was a precious experience to me. I loved the gentle breeze, the warm sunlight, and the night sky full of stars.

Break At Pillar

While in Cuba, I went on a couple excursions. One of them was “Break at Pillar”. Pillar beach is supposedly the most beautiful beach in Cuba, and I was glad I was close to it. Right away, I could tell this beach was different from the local ones near resort, the sand is gold, wind is stronger and the water has amazing waves. As part of the excursion, lunch was served. It was chicken and lobster! My god it was so good!! Early afternoon – time to show off the bikinis! I finally see myself in those perfect looking scenery frames online. The place was so pretty! Oh hello thar! The bikinis are from Bikini Village. Unfortunately I missed all the good sales prior to Cuba trip, these were purchased for about $100. Along with the bikinis, I also bought a sarong to match with them. I love sarongs! They are so flexible and you can practically wear them however you want, a scarf, a dress, a top, or a skirt! Definitely to my heart’s content. …

Pool Before Sunset

Hello world! I’m back to share some pool photos! These are within the Flaminco Resort. So I was looking around and all like “Hmm, I guess I should take off the shirt now, but I’m feeling kind of shy…” “OK I took it off, time to relax! Let me look cute in my little hat and say hi to the camera” “OK let me try a different angle, so all the nice scenery can be included!” “Let’s take a walk around the pool, smell the nature and take pictures with some pom trees <3” (Anyone like my platforms? Colorful and comfortable, was from Ardene’s! )

Travel Diary – Cuba Beach Series III

Hi everyone! I am back for more! I feel like I’ll never finish posting my Cuba Series at this rate… I’ll try to be more productive at posting 🙂 Just smiling at the camera 🙂 I got this bikini 5 years ago! From Asia of course, where else would I buy such cute-sy things. When I headed to the beach this day, it was already getting dark (since it was winter at Cuba, it gets dark at like 5pm:( ), so my pictures are are kind of dim. I also remember this was the day I got a lot of mosquito bites.. it isn’t easy trying to look cute… 🙂 My first time in water for years! I was never a good swimmer, and the sea water is so salty! But just like how I am an adaptive person, I got friendly with the water pretty quick 🙂 Just posing under the last bit of sunlight, catching last glimpse of the blue sky…before I get eaten alive by the mosquitoes.. (They always come out when it …
