Patched Denim Jacket

Beautifuls, I bring you a recent favourite of mine – denim jacket with patches. Designers often look to the past to design for the future, and here’s a product of that. I remember in grade school I used to love decorating my sweaters and jackets with pins and stickers, who’d think that I was one futuristic cookie? 😎 The jacket I’m wearing is from fashionmia.com – If you love sales and deals like I do, then you’d love this site. I was ultra excited to discover them because they have trendy and affordable pieces without compromised quality. When I received my jacket I remember being so impressed with the material considering I got it on sale for only 15 dollars, such a steal! Definitely check out their site, I just bought another item from their flash sale going on right now! The key to style any contemporary pieces is to embrace simple compliments in the outfit to turn down the loudness, like the monochrome croptop and skirt I have here. It’s also critical to at the same time have other bold elements in the look to turn up the chic, may …

How I Wear My Tees (Pt 2)

I’m back with another T-shirt special! If you haven’t seen the other look and tips I shared, check it out here! Compared with the previous look, I like this one just a tad more simply because it’s more slimming :-). The key is to wear 1. Dark colored top and 2. tight denim skirt that’s 1-2 inches longer than your typical short shorts so that it conveniently hides the thickest part of your thighs – all together this will create the illusion of petite top, fuller hips, and skinnier legs. So what do you think? Which looks did you like more! Let me know in the comments section! ❤

Youthful Vibe

Piercings, make-up, revealing and sophisticated looking clothes at a younger age defined my desire to look more mature, and be able to blend in with the older crowd. So it seems I’m kicking like Benjamin Button, and have it all backwards. T-shirts, sneakers, and cute backpacks that I would’ve once thought looked too childish, are things I’ve developed an ineffable appreciation for. Youth is precious, anyone would agree to that, but like many of us, we don’t catch on until it starts slipping. And the realization hits hard, likely when the unpaid credit card bills (which only seem to get bigger every month) start getting delivered to your doors. I’m digging youthful vibes lately, maybe part of that is me compensating and proving to myself that I still can be. Don’t worry, I’m not in denial. I just became appreciative of what I once missed. And hey, it’s a good thing to feel youthful – it feels like anything’s possible. 🙂 Thanks for reading lovelies, let me know your thoughts on my outfit as well as the post’s theme! 🙂 ❤

New Height

I’m a believer that our attires should reflect who we are and bring the best out of us. Given that I have a multi-faceted personality, I do have a lot of freedom in expressing myself through fashion. And this one is the little rebel in me. It’s a rather masculine look – all black, Adidas footwear, and a dress that doesn’t hug my body. The choker is the cherry on top, but what puts things into perspectives is the frontal low cut that adds femininity to the look. As an Asian girl growing up in Western society, I had my fair share of insecurities for my body, and there were certain styles that I thought I’d never experiment with despite my appreciation for them. It isn’t until recent years when I realized that if you adore a style, then you have it in you. You can pull off whatever the heck you want to reflect your personal style as long as you do it with confidence, and believe that this is you. With every new thing I try, I open a door of possibility; and with …

More on Asymmetry

The sweater is a gift from my aunt while I was on vacation in China. Needless to say I love everything about it. If you read my earlier post featuring asymmetry, this is an addition to the collection – asymmetrical sleeves. Enjoy 🙂 Hope you liked the look! (:

Varsity Chic

With celebrities like Cara Delevingne and Rihanna rocking varsity jackets like never before, the look caught on in 2014 and since then, there have been many  modern updates and variations to the style. It’s no longer longer a boyish look for athletes, instead it became a fashion icon that no one questions – the ones who wear it love it, and those who don’t wear it understand the charm. With that said, the varsity look was taken to new heights. I’m going through a varsity phase myself and you’ll more looks in upcoming posts. THIS, though, is my all time favorite varsity piece from Adidas Originals. When putting together this look I tried to stay away from layering too much because the jacket itself can already seem bulky. It’s more flattering when it’s simple & streamlined. As usual I like to land a feel between masculine and feminine, so I layered a thin tank with some witty crossovers in the front.  I went with white pants and white shoes because…I just didn’t want to be boring 🙂 the combination may seem simple, but it’s an eye catching one. But …

Cotton Candy

All designers want their work to stand out, and color palettes are a powerful tool as they draw attention and showcase creativity. A growing trend in web design is the use of less dominant colors, along with a shift towards pastel colors. Pastel colors are simply magical to me, while being peaceful and modest, they project a vibe of positivity and warmth. It requires the right kind of mix to achieve a good balance between color and tone when wearing light colors, since it’s easy to look washed out. Here’s an outfit I put together, casual, brightening, along with a bag from Kate Spade that reminds me of cotton candy.       As usual, hope you guys liked the outfit. I know my sense of style isn’t for everyone, so thanks for your support along the way. ❤

Superstars

Adidas Superstars – a notable piece of childhood, and sneakers that killed the heels.  We’ve been pretty crazy over Stan Smiths, but the hype has found its way to Stan’s fabulous big brothers. Somehow the bright white, the thick soles, and the 3 black lines just make perfect sense. Also, I have to admit as much as I love heels, I somehow always end up cheating my way out of them by finding such comfortable alternatives. I’ve made peace with the fact that I grow older faster than I become wiser, so I like to embrace youthful vibes while I still can, and tend to gravitate towards city inspired sporty chic looks, like this one. The interesting thing about fashion is that it is  dangerously contagious. A couple years back, a nice dress paired with sneakers would be heavily ridiculed for lack of taste and class. And look how far we’ve come, along the high fashion runways, along celeb endorsements, and along local fashion bloggers that inspire everyday fashion. Can you remember why we thought what we love today was ridiculous? Because fashion …

Boyfriend Jeans

The idea of any boyfriend fashion is that you can borrow styles from the opposite sex, which literally means stealing from your partner’s wardrobe 🙂 Why is it so popular? Simple – it’s trendy, it’s comfortable, and most importantly, it comes off as effortless. Being effortless isn’t just a style, it’s a statement, backed by an attitude. And looking good effortlessly is just sexy. Remember the hot fuss over getting into men’s dress-shirts and wear it like a dress? Well, boyfriend jeans is the new one from that family and it has been a favorite for many fashion industry insiders. I’d just provide two tips here in terms of styling boyfriend jeans, one is to always keep the top simple, and second is to roll up the cuffs at hems so you can bring attention to your lovely heels. ❤   What’s your favorite boyfriend piece? (: Oh, and check out (8) Like I’m Gonna Lose You by Meghan Trainor ft. John Legend. Amazing song.  My Instagram | My Facebook ❤
