Let It Loose

I love dressing up to look refined and pretty 🙂 but even then I have my lazy days. This was one of those days! I wanted to wear simple, comfortable/loose clothing, and enjoy the nice weather in nothing but comfort. As much as I love to embrace natural and effortless looks, I’ll still never abandon style. Comfort and style definitely aren’t substitutes and are complementary when matched and accessorized correctly. The tee I’m wearing is shapeless and very thin in material, so I matched it with a tight fitting maxi skirt which provides a shape. The look overall is very lazy, but I stacked my boho bracelets to accessorize – they vary in size & patterns and look randomized, contributing to this “effortless” look, while embracing the boho feel. Hah, don’t you just love this “Be Pretty” message? As if it’s so easy 😛 I got this at the plus section of Forever21! I wear a small or XSmall most of the time, but I picked this up when I was looking for a long loose tee and going to the + section seemed like a good …

Ted Baker Store

Lovelies! As I mentioned in one of my previous post Have You Met Ted?, that I would show you around their store and showcase some of their products, since I absolutely adore the brand. Below are taken at the Ted Baker local store in Toronto Eaton Centre. The store interior has such unique and sweet decors, click on the photos to see the slideshow! Ted Baker is a luxury clothing brand, it sells designer clothing and accessories for men and women. They are already a very established brand, originated in the UK. To me the style reminds me a little bit of Kate Spade, but it is also much more. “Ted Baker’s combination of classic British style and quirky detailing has won it a loyal following of fashionistas and fashionistos worldwide. As you browse through the beautifully cut designs in store, pay special attention to the details: this is a label that delights in subtle touches of embroidery and trim. Ted Baker prides itself on offering ‘twice the product for half the price’ – and the fine fabrics, tailoring …

Colors of Spring

Weather in Toronto has been switching between summer and spring for the month of May. It has been raining a lot in the past weeks, so it’s safe to say that it’s still spring 🙂 Some people call Spring the awkward in between season, because you can’t fully say goodbye to your sweaters, but you can’t bust out your summer wardrobe either. So I decided to put together an outfit that accommodates this weather. Top – From an Asian boutique, it’s wool & cotton material, which keeps me warm from occasional chilly breeze, but at the same time it’s light in color and also sleeveless, making it a piece more suited for warmer seasons. I love the ruffles around the neckline, dressing up the top! Skirt – I avoided summer skirts made of silk or light cotton material, and wore a faux leather skirt which adds an element of weight to the outfit, making it more appropriate for this in between season. Stockings – As an attempt to stay warm, I wore black stockings with about medium level of sheerness. Shoes – …

Flower That Never Dies

Flowers that never die? Sounds plenty incredible and a little crazy. This is a gift from a friend who got it in France, and it actually doesn’t die. It isn’t magical or anything, it’s named “preserved flowers”. 🙂 Preserved flowers were invented by Vermont Co. located in France in 1991. Since then, this growing industry has dramatically expanded, spreading worldwide to countries throughout Europe and Asia. Once the flowers start to bloom, they are picked and immersed in a non-toxic, drying compound that draws out the moisture and then dyed with various colors. This unique preservation process gives flowers long-lasting, sustainable life. Isn’t this just amazing? What do you think lovelies? Love, Val ❤

Flower Princess

Back with a similar post! This was a dinner shoot! As I mentioned in previous posts, at the Cuba resort we had choices of 3 A la Carte restaurants, this is the second one! Here’s me at the restaurant! I was really hungry and couldn’t wait for the food! I am so terrible, I don’t seem to remember what type of food this was…=D but I think this is pork! I was starving and was ready to dig in. OK, food was great, let’s stroll around the lobby. This is the front of the lobby, very decorative and festive, no? This is the one of the lobby entrant/exit, I really liked the way it was designed, everything was not only symmetrical, also reminded me of many Asian landmarks. This is one of my most favorite summer dress – it is from Guess, was on sale for about $60. Not only is it one of my favorite colors, it is also extremely comfortable to wear due to how lightweight it is. The bottom flare has very many layers, and …

Travel Diary – Cuba Day Series I

Hi lovelies, I am back to continue my Cuba series. These were taken within the Memories resort, amazing setting, no? ❤ Before I came here, I used to see all these amazing scenery online or in other peoples’ photos. This time I got to see it myself, it was unreal! See the little turf behind me? That was actually the bar, it was a party late every night with open bar, lively music and lots of dancing 🙂

Travel Diary – Cuba Beach Series I

Hello lovelies! After working for an entire year without break, I finally got an opportunity get away during Christmas time. The destination was – Cayacoco, Cuba. I stayed at the Memories Flaminco Resort, it was such a pleasant experience for the below reasons: 1. The people – Although most of them do not speak fluent English, but they are enthusiastic and very friendly! I felt extremely welcomed at a foreign land. 2. Nights that don’t sleep – I actually got a lot of sleep while I was there, but I remember for the late nights, there is always music and dancing accompanying. They had a 24/7 snack bar, did I mention it was open bar? 3. The scenery – Can’t say Cayococo is the most beautiful place in the world, but it is definitely the best place for vacay I’ve ever been to. (I really haven’t been out much 🙂 ) 4. The weather – Caught the winter of Cuba, which is about 26-28 degrees everyday. That was absolutely heaven when mixed with breezes from the ocean. …

Teal

Just got off work one day and felt like taking some pictures of this $50 outfit 🙂 Affordable fashion is the best kind of fashion. 🙂 Photographer – My dad | Location – Home | Editing – Me (Did not do a good job :-(, the lighting at home was difficult to play with) The dress and necklace are both picked out from Forever 21, and shoes are from Suzy Shier. The cost of these 3 pieces together is under $50! Of course I got them on very extreme sales, and I just wanted to share the happiness with you guys. I am no longer 21 years old but that does not stop me from shopping at Forever21, regardless of what my salary is. The sweater provides a general shape to my body, is very comfortable, and most importantly it’s teal! What’s not to love? This is one of my favorite necklace, it works amazingly on anything dark colored. Can’t say the shoes are super comfortable, but every pair of shoe/heel require some getting used to. Its cuteness definitely ease the lack …

Black & White. Color.

Hi Lovelies! Before I went out, I decided to capture my outfit of the day. Did I mention here I am wearing simply the coolest earring? Four butterflies hangs on it! I am wearing a long furry sweater/cardigan on this chilly day. It is comfortable, it is warm, it is fashionable – all that come at one cost, it sheds fur! But I still love it regardless 🙂 I remember running between two malls to find my size (this is $50 from Garage!). Inside I am wearing a very simple black dress found at a boutique. It is one of my favorite styles but it is a rare find, I bought it with zero hesitation after seeing it. It is high-low, but it is not flow-y nor does it flare out. it is cotton material and although it does not provide a shape, it is slimming 🙂 You must have seen these shoes many times by now (and bag). The MK watch is a new find though! Oh and the necklace, apologies that I did not shoot a …

Didn’t Think Floral Was You? – Think Again

Hello beauties! There is a nice small beach near my home and I decided to pay it a visit one last time before the leaves turn brown. If you’re at a beach and not wearing swimwear, you should at least be rocking some floral 🙂 On this subject I have to admit that i used to HATE floral. Never thought it was my thing and it’s just not me. So I spent many summers just watching other girls in beautiful floral and feeling envious. It wasn’t until recent years when I realized that it’s not that I can’t do floral, I just need to find the right ones. The one type of floral irritates me is the very soft-girly-flowery ones (especially in pink) – It makes my skin appear darker than it is and when I look in the mirror my outfit just screams that I’m trying too hard to be girly. So it’s a given that it’s something I would never spend my $$ on. On one magical day, I walked into Forever 21 and my friend picked up …
