Styling Blue Lace

Lace – a French thing, a graceful embellishment to any outfits. I always felt like it isn’t for everyone, because sometimes it just feels like too much for casual wear due to its noble lineage – it requires advanced handcraft to put together, and it’s seen very often in haute couture and wedding dresses. I also feel like although elegant, the garment itself looks very busy, and it always ends up stealing the focus of the look instead of complimenting the complexion. I purchased this collared blue lace top from Zara, thinking I should add some mature and sexy vibes to my wardrobe. How did I do? Although with the addition of the Peter Pan collar, I might’ve ended up looking more cute and preppy than mature. A key suggestion is to always wear skin colored garment or underwear beneath any colored sheer lace top to avoid having too much going on, or else it really takes away from the design, and further pans the simplicity. The fashion police says you should not have more than three colors in one outfit, so I took the liberty of wearing a red lipstick …

Boyfriend Jeans

The idea of any boyfriend fashion is that you can borrow styles from the opposite sex, which literally means stealing from your partner’s wardrobe 🙂 Why is it so popular? Simple – it’s trendy, it’s comfortable, and most importantly, it comes off as effortless. Being effortless isn’t just a style, it’s a statement, backed by an attitude. And looking good effortlessly is just sexy. Remember the hot fuss over getting into men’s dress-shirts and wear it like a dress? Well, boyfriend jeans is the new one from that family and it has been a favorite for many fashion industry insiders. I’d just provide two tips here in terms of styling boyfriend jeans, one is to always keep the top simple, and second is to roll up the cuffs at hems so you can bring attention to your lovely heels. ❤   What’s your favorite boyfriend piece? Bubble Midi

See I told you, I like to feel girly once in a while too. Having indulged so long in street style, I felt like I was going out of my way for this skirt. I’ve always been infatuated with midis, there’s something magical about being able to show off your calves without exposing the knees. Since the skirt hits right below the middle, it creates an illusion of a longer and slimmer body. If you’re ever self-conscious about your calves looking unappealingly big, know that it’s all by contrast and midis can be a trusty choice. My bubbly skirt is a pleated A-line – an all time favorite from me, it enhances the hourglass figure by accentuating the waist and flaring out the bottom, and is undeniably flattering on any girl 🙂 I matched my skirt with a fitted lace tube to add onto the feminine feel, and of course nothing speaks classy like gold and basic pearls for accessories. “Truth is, I’ll never know all there is to know about you just as you will never know all there is to know about me. Humans are by nature too complicated to …

Symmetric Allures

So… I found this lovely garment at H&M on sale, my god it was such a steal! ❤ As much as I love trendy items and looks, I absolutely adore unique pieces that aren’t commonly found on the streets. You’ve see long body-con dresses, but the fact that this one is loosely fitted actually makes all the difference. I did not over engineer my accessories with this one, just because I felt that the dress should get all the attention it deserves. I threw in the color brown for bracelet and bag since it nicely compliments the ensemble. I stuck with my golden strap sandals for this look because I just can’t get enough of them! 🙂 Rather than calling this a cotton maxi, it’s really more of an..ultra long shirt 🙂 Although it’s dark colored, it is thin, light and absorptive in material. So it’s fitting for those hot windy summer days!   On a side note I actually really enjoyed taking the shoot at this place! It’s behind a local high school, so it’s completely empty over the weekends! …

Hints of Gold – Part II

Hello beautifuls! As I mentioned in my previous post Hints of Gold Part I, this is the Part II of the look! I separated one shoot into two posts because of big difference in scenery and felt that both were deserving of their own post! This is taken at the park nearby my house, I’m grateful to have this piece of paradise close by. It has a small scaled beach, and is very popular during the summer time! Not to mention whenever it’s holidays, this becomes a scene for the dazzling fireworks.     I believe in fairy tales and all things magical 🙂 I remember a couple years back I came here to this very beach to watch shooting stars and make wishes. Although it was summer time but still freezing cold since it’s near the water and the stars were timed to appear around 1-2 a.m. I’d say it was a good use of time because I did something I’ve always wanted to do. I caught maybe 2-3 stars, and made wishes while not worrying about whether they’ll come true. …

Hints of Gold – Part I

Hi lovelies 🙂 a couple weekends ago, Scarborough had amazing weather, and of course I took advantage of it and stopped by the nearby beach to do this shoot. I attempted a simple look, and tried to dress it up with hints of gold everywhere 🙂 The cute little dress is from Armani Exchange, can’t remember the price, but knowing I’m all about deals, it’s likely under $40. Now let’s talk accessories – Necklace – with a simple dress like this, I wanted to wear a busier looking necklace, so I decided on this layered strands of gold chains with pearls. Earrings – toned it down, very minimal. Should always avoid bold earrings and necklace at once so the neckline area doesn’t look unnecessarily busy. The ones I’m wearing here are small dangly black & white triangles with gold rims. Sunglasses – To go with the awesome weather, I wore these orange shades, with gold buckles on the side. Pouch – this was a super good deal from H&M! $15! The beautiful coral blue immediately caught my eye! Not to mention there’s a gold chain embedded to the …

Touch of Orient

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a lovely Wednesday! After today it will soon be the weekend 🙂 Over the weekend I shot a outfit which I always loved, a very feminine look with a touch of orient. I achieved it by wearing this beautiful blouse. The print reminded me greatly of Ink Wash Paintings from Asia, may it be Japan or China. The water colored prints especially emphasize so. The blouse top has the color black as outline, so with no question I matched it with a black lacy skirt consisted of a black slip, and a layer of flowery lace. I could have picked one of two colors for the shoes to match the look – black or coral. I decided to go with these cute coral heels, to amp up the femininity and also to go with the warmer weather. To tone down the loudness of my shirt, I picked flowery and light colored designs for earrings and my ring. Heres’s more shots of the look! Click on them to view the slideshow! Thanks for viewing everyone! Hope you liked the outfit! …

Colors of Spring

Weather in Toronto has been switching between summer and spring for the month of May. It has been raining a lot in the past weeks, so it’s safe to say that it’s still spring 🙂 Some people call Spring the awkward in between season, because you can’t fully say goodbye to your sweaters, but you can’t bust out your summer wardrobe either. So I decided to put together an outfit that accommodates this weather. Top – From an Asian boutique, it’s wool & cotton material, which keeps me warm from occasional chilly breeze, but at the same time it’s light in color and also sleeveless, making it a piece more suited for warmer seasons. I love the ruffles around the neckline, dressing up the top! Skirt – I avoided summer skirts made of silk or light cotton material, and wore a faux leather skirt which adds an element of weight to the outfit, making it more appropriate for this in between season. Stockings – As an attempt to stay warm, I wore black stockings with about medium level of sheerness. Shoes – …

Dress Over Pants?

Have difficulty embracing the Dress Over Pants trend? You definitely aren’t alone. It just isn’t what dresses are for! I decided to give it a chance because you’ll never know some things until you try. I don’t have a lot of long loose tops, but I managed to pair my ripped white jeans with this casual collared dress from H&M. This was an easy match also because light blue + white color combination is admittedly pleasant to the eyes. I wasn’t feeling adventurous with the shoes so I went with a safe selection – my trusty nude sandals. I agree some black strap heels would have worked as well but I wanted the focus to be on the outfit rather than attention grabbing heels. Isn’t this a beautiful little purse? This is one of Kate Spade’s Lemon design series. I love it not only because of the unique design, but also the white/dark blue/tan color theme which I personally think work amazing together. In terms of the accessories, I consistently teamed with gold – necklace was gold, and there were hints of gold in my …

Pop of Color

The weather in Toronto is gorgeous this weekend! I’m switching my wardrobe to the summer set already! Here’s a little grey dress, one of my favorites to go with the beautiful weather 🙂 I actually got this dress from online (i believe it was YesStyle), for no more than $25 – I was drawn to how flirty this little dress looked, and decided to give it a try, and I can honestly say this is one of my best purchases! It is extremely fitting and comfortable to wear, and the material is not the least bit flimsy. It IS a tad short, so I actually wore safety shorts under :-). The outfit was neutral toned, so I wanted to add a pop of color to welcome summer on its way – my red platforms. I do think the shoes would have looked better with a black dress instead of grey, but dark grey and red work fine together as well, now you know :-). Not only was my dress grey, my accessories are also bordering grey/silver. The …
